FS: Vintage 1970s Big Elgin Automatic Diver Blue & Orange Dial

Up for sale is this funky and beautiful vintage 1970s Elgin automatic diver with gorgeous sunburst blue dial and orange "roulette"-style accents in heavy screwed stainless steel case. This big diver features the very cool A. Schild caliber 1913 full rotor automatic movement with a quickset date that operates via pushing in the crown. It is in overall Very Good+ unpolished vintage condition with beautifully aged Tritium luminous numerals and bars and a super attractive orange big arrow Trit handset. This distinctive retro tool watch has great vintage style on the wrist at a price that's hard to beat.

The asking price for this sweet all-original vintage Elgin diver is $775 USD OBRO including fully insured worldwide shipping. Bank Wire preferred but Paypal is OK with +2% to the buyer. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Other payment options upon application. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & BACK: Full size 41mm wide (not including crown) x 47mm long stainless three-piece case with sharp, sweeping lugs. Case looks to have never been polished with crisp original chamfers and has some dings, scratches and marks from the years, Very Good+ vintage condition overall. Screwed notched back has a few scratches externally but all correct nomenclature is present and crisp, likewise Very Good+ cosmetic condition and again probably never polished in the past and showing its original factory radial finish. The inner back is corrosion-free with all correct Elgin text & numbers and screws into the case smoothly and tightly.

DIAL & HANDS: Absolutely gorgeous and Excellent+ original multicolor metallic starburst blue, dial with contrasting orange "roulette" rectangles forming the minute track and framed date window at "3". All original Tritium luminous numerals and bars are intact and have acquired a lovely patina and all dial text is crisp and legible. There is a small bit of reaction evident to the finish of the dial around the Tritium figures when viewed through a loupe. Original luminous fluorescent orange hour & big arrow minute hands are Near Mint with just some cracking of the lume in the tip of the triangle. The orange-tipped sweep seconds hand is likewise Near Mint. Simply a stunning and highly legible dial and hands combo unlike any other I have come across.

BEZEL: Knurled bidirectional black diver's bezel with silver 60-minute elapsed time calibration is in Excellent+ cosmetic condition with just some paint loss to the edges. It is friction style and rotates in both directions with firm finger pressure. The bezel printing is nearly perfect with everything intact and only the faintest of marks.

CROWN: Original signed push in crown winds and pulls out to the time-setting positions, as it should. To quickset the date on this watch one repeatedly and firmly depresses the crown until you come to the proper day. Very cool way to do it!

CRYSTAL: Nice, thick low domed acrylic crystal seems original and is clean and clear with only some small marks from age, Excellent condition.

MOVEMENT: High-grade 17-jewel full rotor automatic-winding A. Schild caliber 1913 movement (marked Elgin 333 on the rotor) with shock protection. As stated above, the date is quickset by pushing in the crown. The seconds hand is non-hacking. While I don't know the service history, this movement is keeping good time with strong power reserve and all functions operating as they should. This is guaranteed to be the case at the time of shipping.

STRAP: This cool Elgin diver comes on a lightly used khaki NATO strap with steel hardware in Excellent condition. This watch has a lug width of 20mm.

As a matter of policy I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form

This great vintage Elgin diver is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

Thanks for looking,
