About this rare model and RARER CALIBER 920!

One of the rarest of Omega Chronographs - This is the Omega Geneve Chronostop, special Italy version , Omega case ref. ST146.012 c.1970, which was made exclusively for the Italian market. The largest of all the Chronostop simplified chronograph variants this one features a 41mm case in superb condition. Stainless steel 1 piece case (movement exits through front)in remarkable condition, no significant marks or dents. The 1153/138 original Omega bracelet is present again in superb.

The grey dial is completely original, almost mint apart from BLEMISH at around 10 marker. The hands are in exceptional condition. The movement is a calibre 920 manual wind single button chronograph. The button at 3 o'clock starts the chronograph and a second press stop it and resets once the button is released. The movement is in pristine order, mechanically A1 and has been serviced. A very collectable watch.

REAL HISTORY:

OMEGA Chronostop Geneva Date, special "Italy" version, 1970: (Museum number 2404)
Simplified chronograph, also called "Stop-second watch", 1/5-second display. 920 date calibre, start push-button at 2 o'clock, stop (press during display of time) and return-to-zero (release) of central chronograph hand, silvered dial, outside line minute scale, raised hour markers with black fillet, luminous stick hands, round steel case water resistant to 30 metres, "Unicoc" system with wide bevelled bezel, with same bracelet fixing (here integrated) as the Dynamic.
Model manufactured by Fontana exclusively for the Italian general agent De Marchi. (ST 146.012)

This watch was also available with a silvered dial with name of large Zurich retailer, "Türler", on it.

There are 2 movements that have been used in this watch series. The 865 & 920. Simply said, the 920 has a date & the 865 doesn't. Both movements are manual wind.

The 865 movement was introduced in 1966 & 124,000 were made. The 920 movement was introduced 2 years later in 1968 & 61,000 were made. Both of these movements were only ever used in Chronostop watches. The both have 17 jewels & run with 21,600 Bph

THIS IS ONE OF THE MORE RARE VERSIONS AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE NUMBERS, LESS THAN HALF THE TOTAL OF THESE WERE FITTED WITH THE CALIBER 920, WHICH THIS ONE IS!!!
