Here’s the new Hodinkee x TAG Heuer Carrera Dato, released this morning as a limited edition of 250 watches.
The Basics – it’s very close to a one-for-one re-issue of the original Carrera 45 Dato, except that it has a 30-minute recorder rather than a 45-minute recorder, and the inner bezel (tension ring) is black, rather than white. The new Carrera Dato uses a 39 millimeter “glass box” case, with power from the Heuer 02 movement. 250 pieces to be sold, with 125 through Hodinkee Shop and 125 through TAG Heuer, website and boutiques; price is $7,250; the watch will ship immediately.
Here's my posting covering the watch -- http://www.onthedash.com/hodinkee-x-tag-heuer-carrera-dato-le/.
Looks like Hodinkee has done it again – taking one of the classics from the 1960s and re-issuing it in a style that will appeal to the vintage enthusiasts, as well as those who prefer modern watches.
