: "I am new to this forum, "
: hi.
: "but I am thinking about purchasing a
: Heuer Carrera Re-Edition 18K
: and was wondering: how wearable is this
: watch--"
: nice watch imho, and the best model tag had
: made in a long time. quite wearable with
: certain limitations though.
: "water resistance, etc, how many were
: produced?,"
: wr is a mere 50m. so the same as the moon
: watch, but i wouldn't wear either for
: diving, swimming, trip to the water park,
: etc. it certainly can handle exposure to
: some rain and a splash, but anything rated
: under 200m doesn't fit into my criteria of
: swimming or more.
: not sure on the exact number? they started out
: a limited production, but later continued on
: until the lemania 1873 were cut off, and
: supplies dried up. i don't see many of the
: gold versions around, but i don't know the
: exact number made.
: "and how much is a fair price for one
: with box and
: papers?"
: i'd say right around $2500-3000 usd area.
: depends on condition, if it's been serviced
: recently or not and a few other factors. i
: wouldn't pay more than about 3k for one
: though...even a nos one, but that's me. not
: too much of a market for these in gold, so
: bargining may work? i see on a quick glance
: that one that's been sitting for awhile is
: listed at 3.3k and hasn't moved in quite
: awhile, so i'd say it's likely a bit
: overpriced.
: "Thanks for your response."
: hope that helped some? good luck on the hunt.

JH,
Thanks for your much valued input. I haven't seen
many of the 18K Heuer Carrera Re-edition around, but as you mentioned there are a couple out there on some fairly prominent web sites for sale around
3.3-3.6K. I plan to have one shipped to me on a 3 day approval basis and see if I like it as much in person as I do in pictures. I don't plan on using it for any water sports, just for dress casual wear. This would be my first Heuer watch,
well actually I think Tag owned them when this re-edition was produced, so would it officially be a Tag-Heuer model? Thanks for all your insights and
comments. Personally I think the Re-Edition
has a nice look at a reasonable price. It just
has the classic look of the original Heuer carrera, Rolex 6238, and Seamaster Chronos of the
60's.
