I recently travelled to rome in the summer and stumbled upon some areas, including a vintage rolex shop in the south if rome by the river... ill try and find the area on a map for your goodself, as it was not listed on any guides etc...just thinking bout it , it was in the area south of the pantheon, and i can recommend a good breakfast in the square in front of the pantheon to the left of it ... ill try and dig out the details for watch hunting!!
