i think your heading sums up precisely how i would feel about this purchase. I too was watching this auction but chose not to bid based on the differences i could see between the eBay pictures and the OTD reference photos. I noted several differences :
- different Hour/Minute hands
- The OTD pictures show a hinged (oyster) back case
- the movement seems to be different (note the different shaped bridge)
- The lugs on the OTD pictures are slimmer and more arched.
- i question if the pusher is the same as the OTD guide

I dont know this model watch well so for me the OTD photo's are very important, hence i did not bid. Having said this i still have a "gut feeling" (so important when purchasing a Heuer) that this is a genuine Heuer item , i just baulked on bidding through lack of exposure to this model.
BTW - i think the dial is genuine and shows a lovely patina. Maybe someone with experience handling this model could step in and clear things up a little.
