Hello Paul,
: Hi Mick - great shots and now we can see yours in all its glory.
: Firstly, I would agree that this dial with tachy scale and
: raised hour markers has that little extra compared with the
: standard 3646 Autavia of similar generation. Of course the
: earlier versions had some of these details and that’s what
: makes them special too.
Totally agreed, I'm still interested in one of these :-)
: The bezel is most interesting. Comparing
: it to mine, the bezel itself is identical however the insert is
: the interesting bit. I have never seen one like it and I am
: hoping that the Master in the US or maybe other well travelled
: collectors may be able to give us some more information on this.
Hope so, too.
Regarding the typography: there are more matching details between the bezel and the tachymeter lettering, which also shows the fancy "3", but open "6" and "9" and simple "1".
: I do feel that the single number i.e. hour bezel is the best fit
: for this watch. It’s simpler than the minute bezel and would
: therefore sit better with all that going on on the dial.
The 12 numbers of the H bezel as well as those of my 13-24 bezel visually extent the 12 markers or numbers on the dial resembling the simple clock design we all know since childhood.
Cheers,
Mick
