Hi all,
This might be sacrilege to most but thought i'd share it and get some feedback good or bad, i received a lovely Siffert from Lanny last monday and so wanted to show it on the friday thread but held off until now as i had a job in mind i wanted to complete first.
The watch is lovely, great condition, working flawlessly and i'm so chuffed to finally get one of these to try out, the only noticeable thing that i thought could better the watch was the dead lume. Now i'm all for trying to keep a watch original but the lume was truely dead, not in the glowing sense but it had dis-coloured to an almost black colour, something i knew had to be sorted.
You'll have to excuse my poor photography skills, they leave a lot to be desired but i hope you can still see what work has been done....
Watch as i received it -
Old lume -
Old lume removed - got to be real steady here as one slip and a scratched dial is not what one wants with their new arrival, lol.
White base coat -
New lume -
Glowing - yes as it proberbly would have all those years ago...
I had a colour in mind but after reading Laurents Tag Heuer report the other day....well, nothing more to say......Laurents stunning Siffert that i used for colour inspiration and reference.
Don't know if i nailed it colourwise or not but its close and i'm chuffed with the results, however i understand if i've broken watch collecting rules with regards to originality?.
Massive thanks goes to Lanny who has been a gent all through the deal, doing his utmost to make it happen for me. Can't stop smiling, thanks man, its appreciated. ;)
Also Laurent indirectly, hope you don't mind me using your pic?.
Please let me know your thoughts chaps,
James.
