I think that Lemania 5100 is a great engine.
Very nice with the airplane hand, very reliable, approved for military use... I prefear it to the 7750 10000 times!
And I love all Heuer with 5100. Silverstone 510.403 (the real one, not "put together) is one of the best watch produced by Heuer in '80s.
Pewter and green PVD are simply fantastic and I think that they will have a great future in Heuer collecting!
: A couple of days ago, we had a brief discussion on Twitter,
: about the Lemania 5100 movement. [I say "brief" for
: two reasons: First of all, any discussion on Twitter is limited
: to 140-character messages, so it is difficult to go into any
: topic in great detail. Second, after a few messages, we realized
: that Twitter was not the ideal channel for this discussion, so I
: undertook to move the discussion to this Forum.]
: So here is the question (or a series of questions): As a
: collector, what do you think of the Lemania 5100 movement? What
: do you like and dislike about the movement (or the chronographs
: that use the movement)? Have you ever had any problems with any
: of your chronographs that use this movement? Which are your
: favorite chronographs that are powered by the Lemania 5100? All
: else being equal, do you believe that these chronographs will be
: as collectible as chronographs with the "classic"
: movements (for example, the Valjoux 72)? Any further thoughts
: about the Lemania 5100 family of movements? For purposes of this
: discussion, when we refer to the Lemania 510 movement, we are
: referring to the entire family of movements, as described in
: Chuck Maddox's blog posting covering the Lemania 500 family of
: movements .
: Please post any articles or references that will add to this
: discussion. [Here's a piece that Chuck wrote about the Lemania
: 5100 movement --
: http://chronomaddox.com/nouvelle_lemania_5100.html ] Also,
: please share photos of your favorite Lemania 5100-powered
: chronographs.
: Looking forward to an informative and entertaining discussion!!
: Jeff
