In its June 1975 road test, Road & Track Magazine called the Boxer “the fastest road car we’ve ever tested.” But the 175 mph it recorded was well short of the 188 Ferrari had claimed.
Have a great weekend!

: I'll need to either change the title or at least make note of
: the issue.
: As I read some of the background materials, I wondered about the
: 200 MPH claim. Specifically, could a fresh motor, with no
: seasoning, perform at this level? Would a test driver take this
: sort of risk, before delivering a very expensive car to the
: customer?
: Would you agree with the "world's fastest production car
: (1975)" as a description? Which road car might have been
: faster, in early 1975? This might call for some research, over
: the weekend. I'm sure that, back in 1975, I had all the right
: magazines to answer this question, but -- against my wishes --
: these magazines are long gone!!
