So the dial is indeed swapped, but only for another in somewhat better condition. Which is not unreasonable I feel, and the seller now discloses the original condition of the watch in the auction. Add to it being a no-reserve auction and it all seems fair enough to me. The usual caveat that I'm not involved with the sale etc.
