Isn't it also much about photoshop?

: David..
: All true. I do have a mini light tent and 2 mini lights.. but I
: rarely use it these days, because I get good results from using
: my laptop as a light.
: I know nothing about cameras, but for close up photos, Macro mode
: on a standard point n shoot is as good as any high end camera -
: that's not my opinion, but what I've read from fellow amateur
: watch photographers/enthusiasts.

: I just took this pic 10 mins ago to illustrate the set up I use..
: and no, I didn't knit the hat!! :0)
: There are little tricks, like holding a large white envelop under
: the camera, this reflect light onto the watch case closest to
: me. I also use a piece of black card to block some light onto
: the dial etc etc. (I need 3 hands sometimes!!)
: Then I edit light/contrast etc in Photoshop.

Rather interesting to read you Steward, also about the hat story, hehe...

I've also been a great fan of your amazing shots (also by your web site) and am also using the same rudimental objects you do (not the lap top) with day light near a window and a Nikon D80 with macro lens, ye, I'm aware the camera is very good.

I always thought you had a lot of photoshop work as your image is extreemely clean! I also use a bit photoshop for light/contrast and believe me, I've never reached the cleanness of your pics.
And the compostion too makes also a great difference!

I any way realise you do have great fun doing this work as I do and one also falls even more in love (if possible) when one looks at a watch under macro... not good if just before wanting to sell a watch... lol

How many times has my husband avoided me to sell a watch after seeing the pics... haha!

So as a conclusion, we believe you have like all little mouses do, some little secrets hidden somewhere ;)))

Thanks for all this sharing,
Sandra
