Why do we buy watches?

You could have a long discussion on why true watch geeks buy watches. There would be a lot of reasons but I am willing to bet that not one of those reasons would be...because it looks like a Rolex Submariner. I just can't be bothered to pay any attention to "homage watches". I am a geek.
