I've had a hunt around online.. but most of the info is known already..

One site says that in 1860 Ed. Heuer set up shop (we know this), and in 1864 he moved to Bienne..
Maybe that has some bearing on it.

These dates are kinda arbitrary anyway.. I mean, do you pick a date when he first started learning watchmaking.. or when he completed a watch, or when he sold a watch, or fixed another makers watch!?! Maybe 1864 was 'picked' originally, as he has proved his business for 4 yrs, moved to Bienne and could rightfully claim 'started in 1864' as a solid, no BS claim.

This is all guesswork on my part!!
