Re: Its spiritual home?
In Response To: Its spiritual home? ()

:

: In Geneva rather than Lucerne, mind.

From the Gübelin website:
On October 11, 1854, at the age of 22, Jakob Josef Moritz Breitschmid opens a watchmaker's shop on the Pfistergasse in the Kleinstadt quarter of the Lucerne old town.
In 1922 Gubelin finally opens its own affiliate at 576 Fifth Avenue in New York.
The grand opening of the Gubelin boutique in St. Moritz is followed in 1932 by another boutique on the Bahnhofstrasse, the most popular shopping street in Zurich.
Despite the difficulties of World War II, Gubelin continues its expansion. In 1944, shortly before war’s end, the company opens its present shop in Geneva.

They didn't skimp on AAA+++ locations....
