Here is a blog posting covering the new facility opened by TAG Heuer to manufacture the new Cal 1969 movement --
So who can remember the days when critics suggested that TAG Heuer was not really a manufacturer, but only an assembler? We should be very proud of all that TAG Heuer has accomplished over the last few years!!

: movement, the Calibre 1969 --

: Yes, gentlemen, it will be a tri-compax movement, although not
: exactly what we are used to from the 1960s. Layout will be as
: follows: 3 o’clock = chronograph minutes 9 o’clock =
: chronograph hours 6 o’clock = running seconds Somehow, the
: date will be at 9 o'clock, meaning that it is within the
: chronograph hours register. One way of getting to this layout
: would be rotating the original Calibre 1887 movement, 90 degrees
: clockwise, and then dropping the running seconds from the top to
: the bottom (6 o'clock). Still, not sure whether this new Calibre
: 1969 will be a derivative of the 1887, a derivative of some
: other movement, or a brand new, white board effort.
: Very exciting news for the Heuer world!! And you've got to love the
: name!! Indeed, 1969 was an amazing year for Heuer, with the
: introduction of the Cal 11 Chronomatics!!
