Re: What would you do?? Seeking Autavia project advice

A couple of years ago I sold 2 1163s on ebay. One was complete, overhauled and running great. The other was a parts watch that was missing the original pusher caps. The total for the parts watch (taken apart and all parts sold separately at no reserve on ebay) came to over $200 more than the one that was overhauled. I think the same would be true today. Parts projects usually do not come out ahead in terms of $$$$.

: Jay,
: I amassed so many Heuer parts watches while fixing my 1163 T
: Siffert, that I had enough pieces to put together a almost
: perfect 1163 V Viceroy. This was over 5 years ago, would not
: attempt today with the increase in costs of Heuer watches and
: scarcity of parts. Suggest selling movement, dial etc and
: finding the best Viceroy you can afford. Then splurge on a Topic
: or Perforated leather band and enjoy.
: If you truly want to go the project route, email me and I can give
: you my old sources for parts and service.
