Running fast.....
Demagnitizers are cheap and can be purchased for under $20 - every watch collector should have one and try it first if their watch is running fast. There is a lot of electronics that can cause the problem (find possibilities on Google). The second most likely cause is the coils on the balance spring sticking together - usually a result of oil on the spring. Balance and spring will need to be cleaned in this case. Recently I have had to watches that were dropped and the balance spring flipped over the regulator end or the balance spring stud. This will make it run really fast - several minutes per hour. Removing the spring coil from the regulator or stud may fix the problem if the spring has not been bent. This is all assuming that the balance and/or balance jewels and pallet are OK. Oh, and one more thing - fine lint or hairs (particularly fine Siamese cat hair) lodged in the pallet or balance roller area. This can make a watch run fast or slow and will drive you nuts trying to find it!
: It takes a minute, the place the watch on a demagnetizer without
: opening or doing anything to the movement and then go from there
: Lanny.
