Re: New arrival: Heuer Autavia 11630MH on Giuliano's strap

Hi all,

first of all thanks to all of you for your kind and useful comments, I didn't expect that the watch would receive so many compliments even if so well aged...

Answering to Mick, in effect the original lume (hands, dial indexes and bezel dot) still glows in the dark with the same intensity if charged under a lamp, it's dark but at least is not cracked or missing, probably you are right....you convinced me :-)

The case is not so bad, I'm so used to see on this forum wonderfully restored cases that this seems to be the standard for Heuer watches... anyway is a pesonal taste and I appreciate your opinions.

John, you are right too, the watches I usually enjoy at job are a blue Montreal and a Pasadena because they aren't "perfect" and I paid them a really really honest price, and I'm not worried to beat them as I would be with some others in better conditions... in effect today is the 3rd day that I wear it and is like not having it, no fear to scratch the bezel or the case ;-)

Last but no least the strap, I think that Giuliano doesn't need any commercial spot (many out there are enjoying his beautiful straps) but this strap is special because I had it in the drawer for months waiting the summer to mount it on the Skipper but this time it will wear another watch, let's say that for the 1st time I didn't had the problem to wait for the strap to start enjoying a new arrival... probably I will try a Tropic (never had one until now) for the summer to preserve the leather one...

Thanks again for your opinions.

All my best.

Gianluca

: Hi all,

: this post is to share my latest arrival, an Autavia 11630MH arrived
: saturday.

: I bought it from a man that told me has inherited from an his
: parent together with some other vintage watches, the watch has
: been worn for many years then put in a drawer...
: It seems to be all original and is in overall good conditions,
: hands have still a beautiful orange colour matching the right
: sub-counter but lume is really dark and ugly, the MH bezel is
: enough scratched (but as always it looks better at "naked
: eye" view than in photo) and the case has some scraches but
: has its original sunburst finish (edges in the lower part of the
: case are sharp as a razor).

: My intention would be to make it restore (case refurbishing, hands
: reluming, movement servicing, and so on) but honestly it doesn't
: seems so bad as I expected from the images the seller sent me,
: when I took at home it needed only a good cleaning to the case
: and to the glass inner side and a new wonderful strap like the
: one my great friend Giuliano prepared some months ago for my
: Skipper 15640 (but I think it will remain on this Autavia ;-)
: )...
