1983 Heuer quartz Posted By: 747trace Date: 2/3/05 00:20 GMT I recently purchased a 1983 Heuer quartz model 980.020. I have three questions for the forum. Hello Trace, welcome aboard. Are the earlier edition quartz watches as accurate and dependable as the new Tags They have been accurate and dependable in my experience. I've owned a Heuer Pilot quartz for over 20 years and as long as you don't abuse them, keep their movements dry, their batteries operable they are stalwart performers. and second can anyone shed light on the back plate of the watch which reads ETANCHE ACIER 20 ATM Most watch firms are located in the French speaking part of Switzerland, Bablefish translates Etanche Acier as "Seal Steel"... Which would seem to me to indicate or imply a case made of steel with a 20 Atmosphere (200m) water resistance (seal)... Third and last question is there a informational web site or forum to find out info for the on earlier heuer quartz watches. For the most part this site (and my site... Link in the footer) is it. TAG-Heuer might have some information on their site, although I doubt it. Watch-U-Seek has a TAG-Heuer forum, but I am not conversant with their holdings of Heuer information... The impression I get of their forum is that it's more modern TAG-Heuer oriented, where we're more in to vintage Heuer aspects of the firm(s) in question.
