I've been a member here for awhile, but do not post much, so please forgive me being forward and asking for some assistance. When I received this watch (about 20 years ago) it was enough for me to know the model number, that it had been polished before and that the rest appeared original. Since then the community here has presented so much new information about the early Carreras that I wanted to ask everyone to have a look and see if anything looks out-of-place. The serial number is 793XX. I've had it serviced once, about 7 years ago. I'm not familiar with the various versions of the 2447D, the desirability of one version over another, which came first, etc.
My motive is that I was approached by a gentleman who purchased several Rolex watches from me (after I passed through that phase) wanting to know if I had anything else he might like. I want to be able to describe it to him accurately, without having to send it off to him for "approval" and lessening the chance of a return for cause. Also I haven't decided to sell the watch. The market seems a bit "crazy" right now and I am patient about such things, so no hurry.
Anyway, please speak up and do be as harsh as necessary, if the condition warrants it. Thank you all!
Jack
