Unique Heuer Monaco to be Sold by Phillips, Dec. 10 (NYC)

Got to say that this one seems pretty strange to me, but until we see the movement, it's difficult to assess.

TAG Heuer takes a New Old Stock Monaco circa 1969 . . . then, TAG Heuer watchmakers disassemble the movement and "apply high grade finishing" on every part, including mirror polishing functional surfaces, screw heads and adding three new jewels to create a "unique art piece".

Looking forward to seeing this movement!!

Of course, what makes it a bit strange is that the theme of this auction is "Game Changers" . . . highlights include watches from Marlon Brando, Jack Nicklaus, John Glenn and many others who changed the world, or at least their realms. I suppose the "angle" will be that the Monaco changed the game, with its unique style. Still, might have been more interesting to have a Heuer from Steve McQueen, Mario Andretti, Carroll Shelby, etc.
