Scan Day: I Have Seen the Future, and . . .

We seem to be on a good roll with the recent Scan Days, with some excellent discussions and photographs. This coming Friday, let's explore our watches / collecting from a different perspective. Let's begin with the words, "I have seen the future, and . . . ", then complete the thought.

You might want to:

  • pay tribute to a futuristic watch, whether in terms of its style or its technology . . . maybe it was futuristic in 1957 or maybe it is futuristic in 2007

  • tell us what your collection will be like in the future [for example, maybe you have decided to make the move from Heuer chronographs to Seiko Kinetics, or from steel to gold, or from mechanical watches to quartz]

  • tell us about the future of collecting [for example, in 2012, with oil at 200 euro per barrel, and the US Dollar at parity with the Thai Baht, will those of us in the US have some different collecting experience?]

  • make a gutsy prediction about the future value of our Heuers, or other vintage watches or collectibles

  • tell us the number one watch in your future . . . the one at the top of your "Most Wanted List" for 2008

As always, interpret the theme in such manner as you see fit, or you can go entirely off topic if you have something else interesting to share.
