Some Thoughts (Including Some About Value)

some thought on these awesome split second timers:

  • Over here in the U.S. of A., we see a lot of the black cases, as shown below. The Sports Car Club of America ordered sets of these pocket chronographs for use by rally officials, so we do see them floating around . . . often well-worn / beaten up . . . often black

  • The rarest piece that I see in this thread is Jaspers red case with the screw-down pushers . . . I'm not sure that I have ever seen one of these cases . . . maybe this is the equivalent of Daytona with screw-down pushers

  • In terms of the value, it is very difficult to predict. I might see a nice one, in a case, sell for well over $2,000, then some weeks later, I see one struggle to reach $1,200. It seems to be a very thin market, with few sellers and few buyers.

  • final thought: the movements on these are masterpieces . . . the entire design of dial / hands / case is beautiful . . . the feel of one of these in your hands is amazing.

So what are they worth? A lot more than they sell for in many instances!!
