Clearly there are more things to be concerned about, but that, I suppose is the beauty of this forum. It seems that based on catalogue references that Heuer's intent was that "fume" was intended to be charcoal. Arno's evocation for the fume Carrera and Daytona is "metallic brown," while the Silverstone "f" is called just plain "brown." The OTD master table refers to the Carrera "f" as having a grey dial. so the "f" designation appears to be all over the map, perhaps as Heuer intended it to be, a color that would take on variation depending on the texture of the dial, ambient light, etc. Any observations and history about this color would be appreciated.
While not seemingly a very popular color, it does seem to have survived about a six or seven year production run--"74 Carrera--'80 Silverstone, so it could not have been that unpopular. It seems that with the brown revial in dial colors, that fume would be a great choice--a greyed out brown with luminous qualities that always keeps you guessing.
