1964 Heuer Carrera Valjoux 72 case questions

I have a 1964 Carrera Valjoux 72 "plain vanilla" deci version. The dial is in pristine condition but the case has lots of wear and tear. Lots of scratches, chips and the glass has a small crack in it. I know TAG made the re-edition of these watches with the Lemania 1873 movement. The case for the re-edition has similar dimensions to the original '64 Carrera. My question is would the Valjoux 72 movement fit in the re-edition case? Would my watchmaker be able to get a new re-edition case from TAG? Thanks for any help.
