Re: New Arrival: 18 KG Carrera Automatic (1158 CHN)

: New arrival today . . . the 18 karat gold Carrera, Reference
: 1158 CHN (CHampagne dial / Black registers), on the original
: bracelet.

: I had been looking for this version of the 1158 Carrera (with the
: black registers and the black date disk) for a few months; I
: never imagined that I would find one on the original 18 karat
: gold bracelet. I'm not a "gold guy" . . . and I'm not
: an "automatic Carrera guy" . . . but I have to say
: that this combination of watch and bracelet is absolutely
: stunning. The workmanship and feel of the bracelet is unlike any
: other that I have seen.

: Yes, this one has a few nicks and scratches . . . it's not NOS or
: mint . . . but how amazing that watch and bracelet have remained
: together these past 37 years, and can still leave the viewer
: breathless.

: It's too late tonight to tell the whole story, so post questions
: and I will respond during the day on Wednesday; you can see
: more photos here ; I will add more photos soon.

Jeff --

Fabulous watch. . . welcome to the world of gold watches.

The bracelet can be adjusted somewhat at the clasp, but that will likely not be enough. There aren't any other options that I am aware of save cutting it. If you are willing to get one fabricated, the sliding clasps on "sharkproof" mesh bracelets might be a good design.

In terms of the value of the bracelet, start with the minimum, and work your way up. The bracelet weighs X grams, which is Y troy ounces at 31.1035 grams per troy ounce, and gold is trading at about 1085 per troy ounce * 18k/24k (0.75) = US$815 per 18k troy ounce. The bracelet is worth at least the value of the gold, and should be worth at least double that.

Happy holidays and enjoy a very cool watch . . . .

Sam
