Re: Carrera 30 Dial without the "T" for tritium

Dear Mark,

Thank you for the reply - very much appreciated. I've sent you an e-mail with a pic of the dial.

Txs again,

Cheers,

M

: Marco, is it a Carrera 30 as in the title, or a Carrera 45 as in
: the body text?

: Around the introduction of the 30s, Heuer seemed to have been
: experimenting with alternatives to tritium (LumiNova etc), so it
: is fairly usual for a Carrera 30 not to have a T on the dial,
: just the Swiss text. This appears to have started a year or two
: before then as well, so late Carrera 45s and first execution 12s
: sometimes appear without a T as well.

: A good rule of thumb is that if a first-generation Carrera dial is
: second execution (i.e. the markers have inserts), then it is
: unlikely to have a T on the dial, whereas if it is first
: execution (plain markers), then it is usual to have the
: T.

: Tritium is far less harmful than the early radium, but export
: controls seems to have been an issue as it is still radioactive.

: So the watch could well be ok. You can send any photos to me on
: carrera_table_mm@btinternet.com to take a look at if you like.

: Mark
