Anyone got or used a Jacky Ickx pin pallet chrono?

Just need some clarification

having only ever used 1 before I has always assumed the unsophisicated pin pallet movement in a Jacky Ickx works as follows

The top button starts it and stops (although doesn't restart it again if stopped once) and the bottom button resets it.

Can anybody confirm this ?
