As David said, it looks like the serial and reference number may have been polished out.

The "C-" reference on the caseback was added by the Swiss dustributor, Cuanillon, in some instances as Jasper discovered in correspondence with Jack Heuer: http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=29838
