Mr Rick's Montreal. Question about hands

: It's never too late. Look what I got yesterday. Able might
: recognize it. :>))))

: Rick

Firstly, beautiful example Mr Rick.
Secondly, I think that the hands of the Montreals' are some of the most beautiful and captivating in the Heuer range and Mr Rick's watch is a great example. It was not until I had a nice long look at this did I finally get to appreciate the shape of these particular sub register hands. I have read before where they are referred to as "gun barrel", or "shotgun" or something similar, and I have not been able to find another, or that reference since.
Could someone tell me the correct name for them, and is there any knowledge as to the reason Heuer chose this particular shape?
Do I assume correctly that they are unique to Heuer?

For me, it just did not look the correct/obvious shape for such a precise function. (Perhaps another reason why I don't own a watch company.)
Well that was my first honest appreciation of them when first noticed on a Monarco. I did not like them at all, but over time, they've grown on me.
Regards
mark
