Leonidas / Heuer early days

I liked this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170582250886&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

but let it go. The decisive factor was that the case didnt seem right (i might be wrong on this - it was gut feeling). As a side issue I also questioned the Heuer heritage as a result of a quick scan of OTD and other available sources which led me to believe that Heuer and Leonidas only merged in 1964, despite what I perceived to be some close similiarities with the 40s Heuer chrono dials. I now notice that the 1938 Heuer catalogue has 'Leonidas' pages in it...with chronos. Now Im not sure about it. I cant seem to find much info on the very early days and any cross pollination pre merger. Does anyone know about these early days or able to point me to a source?

many thanks
Lucas
