Cannon pinion problems? Watch runs but hands don't move...

I have serviced 4 cal 11 thought 15 movement in the past 2 months and all of them had loose cannon pinions that had to be tightened. Not a simple thing on as they are off center and inside the movement. I also noticed that the cal 11 and 15 cannon pinions are different - the 15 has a larger post. Does anyone know if the complete units are interchangeable? Thanks, Craig
