Re: Myth about the watch's papers

Hello Stewart, i will try to find out about the ink Stamp, with asking gert! But he said something about that some watches where sold at the set, i don,t think he had the time to have a stamp made too, because time was running.Perhaps he sold the watches to visiters of the set because he was short of money?? I have to ask him again about some more facts!! PS : Watch Garantie papers are allways signed when a watch is sold and handed over to the custemer( Buyer), so whey not at the set in le Mans!!! Greetings Jasper
: Interesting story,

: Regarding the watch and their papers, I'm
: pretty skeptical that the papers "were
: signed" at the film set. The example I
: saw that was on EB had an actual stamp on it
: with a reference the Le Mans 24hr &
: circuit printed by a retailer in an old
: fashioned ink stamp.

: If this recount from Jasper is correct and Gert
: had little time to gather the pieces before
: the filming started, he had little time
: therefore to have a "Le Mans 24hr"
: stamp made up to sign the watch paperwork
: with.....?

: Why would a guarantee "stamp" be made
: especially for the movie's watch inventory
: ??

: Were Heuers avaiable to the general public from
: a gift shop concession at the circuit in the
: early 1970s? If so, this may explain the
: official stamping of the guarantee booklets
: and papers of a Monaco McQueen that claims
: to be ex- Steve McQueen......? Maybe someone
: who went there then remembers?

: Also, Siffert owned a Company that McQueen
: hired to provide some of the cars for the
: shoot, 911's, 908/910/917's and some
: 914/6's, I think.

: Excellent story and great insight Jasper!

: Thanks and regards

: Stewart.
