Re: Questions about current market for Camaros

The handsets are a bit of a minefield on Camaro's. It is correct that there were differing hands.

That example looks incorrect to me, ALL the hands look wrong, even the main hands, they look too slim and the tails are too long. Also, I'd expect this model to have fluted pushers. (From what I can tell, not all had fluted pushers - especially the later coloured models)
Have a look here: http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronographs/68.Camaro/Camaro_12/

As for swapping the dials around.. I'm no expert, so I can;'t comment. I would presume that a Tachy dial could be replaced with a non-Tachy.
I would warn against this though, on two counts. The watch wouldn't be 'as it left the factory' (but then this is down to personal preferences about originality etc), secondly, the Tachy version is much more sought after.

On a general note about the Camaro market, there seems to be a 'split' in which models command the high prices. These are my own observations:
The most sough after are the tricompax with tachy scale, then tricompax without. Black seems to be more popular. Next down are the 2 sub-dail models in black with date & white with date, then black or white no date. Lower down the scale are the later 'coloured' dial versions.
There are gold plate models & solid gold models, but we'll leave these to one side for now.

: As a follow-up, do the hands on this example look correct? The
: seller of this piece tells me there were variations that Heuer
: used and that white faced 7220s did not all have black chrono /
: subdial hands.

: In addition the shape of the second hand (particularly there being
: an arrow at the tip of the hand) is different than other Camaros
: I've seen.

: Thoughts on whether the hands are authentic or replaced?
