Sandra, can they make out the movement reference by eye? It's a bit blurred in the photo. Definitely an A. Schild SA movement, looks like an AS 1463. That is an automatic with power reserve and fits in with the same 50s timescale as the dial.

The small Heuer automatics without power reserve gauges also used AS movements in the 50s, usually the AS 1361, so it's in keeping with those.

I've not seen this specific model before, but the markers, numerals and hands all look familiar, as does the star on the dial. I'd say there's a fair chance it's original, just not one we're particularly familiar with.
