Sorry Tim, but I think that's not correct - According to the catalogue listing, the caseback should be marked '980.005', whether on a tropic or metal strap.
980.006 = black dial quartz
844 = black dial automatic
980.007 = orange dial quartz
980.005 = orange dial automatic
