David D - Strapmaking.. a few questions

Hi David,
Do you use hand held 'punch' tools & a mallet?
I'm making a few custom jobs. Not fully 'hand made', but I've bought a few plain 'no holes' vintage straps & I wish to put the Heuer 'rally' holes into them.
I bought a cheapo hand tool, the sort you see on ebay for punching holes, it does the job, but the wrench action isn't very precise. I presume individual hand held punches would be best. I've seen some cheap sets on ebay for £5ish.. would these be any good? Any advice would be welcomed.

(PS. It's very addictive, even if I haven't actually made the strap)

Cheers
Stewart
