Angolan FAPLA Carrera 1153 or 110.253?

I wanted to share this interesting military Carrera with the community. As you can see it’s the case only and that’s how I received it. The serial number (147742) and the reference (1153) are clearly visible. The seller was in Australia and at the time he offered me a well used Heuer Calibre 12 and another non-Heuer case with a Carrera 110.253B dial. The obvious conclusion was that the original watch must have been a 110.253B (sum of the parts). However, these Carrera’s had the reference number engraved on the caseback and as mentioned above, this has the reference (1153) between the lugs. The first question I have is: does the serial number match the reference 1153 or 110.253B?

There are a two of other side issues that I find interesting namely:
- how did an Angolan Military watch end up in parts in Australia.
- All other Angolan Military Carrera’s I have seen are barrel case reference 110.573B (here is a picture of mine). Now we could have the addition of the earlier (1153) or later 110.253 case/dial variant.

More questions than answers. I look forward to any additional information that can be added to help solve or at least shed some light on this mystery watch.

Regards
Paul
