Re: What do you say when someone says "Nice TAG"?

: I don't know how many of you face this problem from time to time:
: You are introduced to someone and they compliment your vintage
: Heuer by saying "ooh nice TAG!"
: That always gives me a twinge between the shoulder blades.
: Do you just smile and nod and say thanks? Or do you nerd out and
: say "well actually it's a vintage Heuer from before it was
: TAG Heuer." Would be curious to hear how other people
: handle this. Usually I just smile and say thanks...but the
: temptation to nerd out is always there.

If they're being nice about it then just say thank you. If they're that interested show them the watch and give them a bit of history about it. I used to have a current Rolex GMT and had almost constant negative comments, people only seemed to be happy when I agreed with them that yes, it was a fake. I found it odd that people would rather think I bought fake watches than had something nice on my wrist. Anyway, a compliment is a compliment. And maybe they only say Tag because they can't pronounce Heuer!
