OnTheDash Tumblr Blog

I can't offer a concise explanation as to exactly what Tumblr is . . . The ever-reliable Wikipedia describes it as a "micro-blog" -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumblr

But whatever it is, and however it is used by the real social media experts, I wanted to let our readers know that I have set up a Tumblr page for OnTheDash. You can view it here -- http://onthedash.tumblr.com/

In simplest terms, the way I am using Tumblr is sort of like a Twitter feed, but rather than being limited to 140 characters of text, Tumblr allows photos and unlimited text. I expect to use it once or twice per day, to show content that has been added to OnTheDash, to lead people to this forum, to share other interesting things, etc.

For example, when Amir posted his Cal 15 "Exotic" Autavia, I was able to do a single posting on Tumblr that took Tumblr readers to the thread on this discussion forum, as well as the OnTheDash Gallery showing the watch, all with one posting. This Tumblr posting also created a Twitter message . . . so my 800 Twitter followers could go from Twitter to Tumblr, and from Tumblr to the thread on this forum and the OnTheDash Gallery. That's easy for Twitter or Tumblr followers, and it was quick and easy for me.

I can't guarantee that Tumblr will be here to stay, but right now it's quick and fun, and there seems to be a good watch community developing. So give it a try!!
