Re: I like the one on the right Gigi

: Yes Mark, tropical dial, I love it too much..
: The other is a rare dial, not the common G382(250pz), take a look
: the small compax at 3
: or ask to Lou, we had discuss a lot last year about it ;)

: GIGI

The exotic dial (G 383) is the famous "Poker-chip Primero," so named by Ben over at Hodinkee (http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2009/11/17/zenith-el-primero-poker-chip-face-one-of-the-first-automatic.html).

Our debate (GIGI, tell me if I am mistaken) concerned two dial variations. One has square metal hour markers, and the "rays" around the chronograph minutes and hours subdials respect the edge of the subdial (like GIGI's). The other has only lume at the hours, and the "rays" spill over into the subdials. The catalog picture seems to show the second version, but the first looks less sloppy (to my eye). It is difficult to imagine that a production run of 200 watches has two dial variations. So which is correct? It's a pretty abstruse discussion, but these are not cheap and value favors originality, as always. Any OTDers care to venture an opinion?
