Advice needed re Heuer Diver

Hope you can help me with this one.
My first Heuer diver died a few years ago after ten years of sterling service, and I foolishly left it at the watchmaker's place when I was told it was unrepairable.
I decided to try and replace it for sentimental reasons after discovering this forum, and guessed from scans of old catalogues that it was a 980.013(black face, classic appearance)
I got hold of one the other day, but I'm sure it's smaller than my old watch. I still have the 'tropic' strap from my old watch, and it's a little too large for this 980.013 that I've just purchased.
My question is this: Do you know of different sized 980.013 models? Have I got the wrong model number maybe?
Please share your expertise or your hunches.
Many thanks,
Martyn.
