What a beautiful "set" you have found with this Monaco!! Truly amazing to see the condition.
You know, it's funny that over the years we have had more of these Monacos, found in the corner cabinet of the old watch shop, than either the Autavias or the Carreras. An explanation is simple: These big, ugly, square watches were so expensive, and so difficult to sell, that they sat for many years. So now, it's almost 40 years later, and the big ugly watch is still sitting in the big red box, waiting for the sharp-eyed collector so spot it. Seriously . . . how many of the NOS Autavias and Carreras have we seen, compared with the Monacos?
Whatever the explanation might be, we say congratulations on the great find. I suppose we should be thankful that this one stayed in the shop, rather than being sold to the customer who might have worn it hard over the years!! Great to have it
in the family".
