Old lume 'clouding/marking' underside of glass?

I've had a few vintage Heuers that have had glass with clouding on the underside.. in patterns that match the lume plots on the dial. (Silverstone and Monin IIRC) I just dug out my Heuer 844 Monnin.. and I've noticed that when viewed at a very shallow angle I can see ghosting on the underside of the glass that match the lume plots below.. thing is, I had this before, and it was cleaned at the last service - not that long ago..

So, what causes this? is it some sort of vapour.. or radiation.. I wonder if this is what causes the Heuer 'paintless' wonders?

Is it bad? Should the watch be regularly opened up to allow fresh air in?

Seems it could be 'radiation burn'!
