My four Breitlings
In Response To: Who Likes the Old Breitlings? ()

I'm a big fan of the Navitimer and 70's era Breitlings. I would have to say I like your Cosmonaute the best with the Unitime running a close second!

Regarding the 1970's era Breitlings, here's my own circa 1973 Datora (model 2034) with Valjoux 7734:

Here's my 1969-1970 SuperOcean 2105 with Cal 12. I really like this nearly 48mm diameter "fried egg". This came from the "Old World Jewelers" special offering of NOS Breitlings bought at an auction in Zurich, as did the above Datora. OWJ sold out of their large selection of NOS vintage Breitlings back in 2011. Amazingly, they had offered them since about 2000! They had at least a dozen various models (couple thousand total watches I believe) and all were new old stock from the 1970's with their original paper and purple wax seals on the back.

I bought this "busy" Snowbirds Navitimer in 2008 (circa 1995) as a lucky "second chance" bidder on e-bay when the winning bidder reneged and wouldn't send payment to the seller. That was the third listing that the seller was burned by non-paying bidders on this particular watch so he offered it to me as the "runner-up bidder" at my relative bargain bid of under $2k. Yes, kinda busy but I do like it. 7750 movement:

This special edition Montbrillant Navitimer, manual wind, I bought brand new from a local authorized dealer in 2006. This watch gets the majority of my wrist time with my fantastic 11630 silver dial/orange hands Autavia running a close second!

: Here's a family photo of three 1960s Breitlings -- the AOPA
: Cosmonaute is a very early one . . . probably from 1962, the
: days of Astronaut Scott Carpenter . . . the lume had gone
: completely black and was removed by the previous owner. the
: Unitime is one of the very first watches that I bought, probably
: 10 or 12 years ago; the strap is Horween shell cordovan . . .
: perfect for a pilot's watch, that might be worn outside a jacket
: the Super Ocean is a recent acquisition . . . I have chased
: these for years and missed them for years . . . thanks to Derek
: Dier, at Watches to Buy for sending this one my direction. This
: one has a chronograph minute hand, but no chronograph second
: hand; so you can use this one when you don't need to time an
: event "to the second". So these are three somewhat
: unusual chronographs, all different in their own ways . . . so
: which is your favorite?

: Jeff
