Absolutely amazing to wake up to see this posting!! People will think that we conspired with this theme, so that you could present this watch in such dramatic fashion. We even achieved the perfect set-up, with my display of Seafarers.

In December 2011, I had a blog posting just about finished, providing the information that I had gathered about these watches. (I was waiting for a couple of additional details, before making the posting.) Let me commit to blow the dust off the draft, and add the posting soon.

I have seen a handful of these, but most appear to have been assembled recently from the dials which some watchmakers still have on hand. Yours is the first that I have seen that appears to have been "from the day" when the dials were actually produced. And the patina on this one is stunning!!

: collection. Tropical dials are not everyone’s cup of tea but
: there is an inherent beauty in the consistency and the gamut of
: shades that the metallic surface throws out. The contrast with
: the blue markers is the cherry on top. Who could not love this
: 30mm diameter disc of beauty.
