Re: The Informal Auctions Thread

Hi Darren, hi all,

totally agree...

Provided that there is nothing bad in trying to get the maximum gain when you decide to sell a watch (especially if rare and desirable), there is a limit to some behaviours and I think you cannot sell your reputation to gain a lot more on a watch !!!

Unfortunately I have entered in this Heuer world only recently (I would have started many years ago when you could find Heuer pieces with reasonable prices) but enough to see that, in the last months, something is changing (in worst), probably is the effect of an increasing demand and of a scarce offer of good pieces!

Never forget that, at the end, is still only an (expensive) adult game - important things in life are others - and the best part of it is to share this great passion with new friends rather than trying to gain a lot more on them!

In my short collector's career I have had some examples of friends, known on this forum, that renounced to their beautiful pieces (selling them at a really honest price) to make me happy, knowing that I would have loved their Heuer as they did, and I did the same...

In conclusion, IMHO is a good idea to try to regulate those informal auctions to avoid that OTD became like the "Far West"...

My 2 cents.

Hagwe to all.
