I feel very sorry for you and I'm sure we all feel your pain on this tragedy :(

There are not many people I trust to "fiddle" with watches but even then occasionally something happens even with the best guys...I remember a blue silverstone dial that accidentally had red paint touch the dial and removed some blue paint to reveal brass. A stiff drink is required in such times...

I hope you may find a dial in the future, and I hope that in 2016 you get lucky with a rare piece to help ease the pain :)
