Ah! Ok...

I have a Heuer Camaro watch that I would like to find out more about.

Ouch... That's a problem... We don't have a Camaro section of the MOAT... That makes research a bit problematic...

The watch is stainless(?), black face, three dial, two of the dials, minutes and hours have red-orange hands along with the chronometer sweep second hand. The strap is leather with small holes and Heuer on the metal strap holder.

Ok, for the most part you can set aside the strap... Chances are it's been replaced over the years if it's a leather strap and there is likely not much to be gleaned from it.

What I would recommend you do, is go through all of the catalogs on the catalog section starting in about 1960... And scan through them and see if you can find the watch. The catalog's are like the books of the bible for Heuer research, for the most part they are the documentation we use to piece together the information found in the MOATs charts.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason(s), we have not gotten around to doing a Camaro table.

I also have a red box with Heuer on the top and a black and white check pattern (two rows) around the box. I do not have any paperwork for the watch.

That sounds like a 1960's~1970's era box to me.

I am looking for information about the watch: year/s of manafacture, number made, collectability, approximate value... Any bits of information would be acceptable. Thanks!

I don't think we ever really have much idea as to the size of the production runs for these watches (number made), the catalogs should be able to give you an idea as to years of production and duration in the product line.

Collectablilty. I personally feel (and that's a personal perception, not a provable fact) that the Camaro has suffered a bit in popularity due to it's shape... It's not really a "classically styled" watch like the Carreras, or a Diver/Driver styled watch, like the Autavia's, or a bold styling statement like the Monaco's, and as a result, I feel they've gotten a bit of a short shift. For a long time they have suffered from being a cross between old and new and being perceived as being not as desirable... The best analogy I can think of is the Ford Ranchero/Chevy El-Camino syndrome... A hybrid of a Pickup and a two-seat car that has the too few of the benifits of either and too many of the drawbacks.

However, I've seen a few absolutely beautiful examples displayed in forum posts here and elsewhere in the past 6-10 months and people have been oooohing and aaaaaahhing over them and I honestly think they are on track to be more popular than they have ever been previously. I think they are very collectable and have a lot of upward potential.

Value... Oh, that's tough... Since Heuer made both 2-Register and 3-Register versions in a number of different color and style dials, the range is really broad with a monotone 2-register being on the low end in the $500 and up range, to a 3-Register with contrasting subs drawing spirited bidding well north of the $1000 range.

As always the value is what the high bidder is willing to pay.

Aside from that the information get's real thin. I hope I've been of a little assistance and if I run across more information I'll try to circle around.

Good Hunting!
